BPL - logo competition

Hi all, this is directed at current, past and future BPL players, and the bloody awesome Ultimate community that surrounds BPL. We have a group of players that has grown and solidified over the years, and I couldn't count the amount of times over the last few months someone has referred to how unique the Open elite league is in Australia, and how proud we are of it.

Well, its missing something. Other than free beer, its missing a logo. That's where you come in. We're kicking off a competition that is designed to source BPL a logo.

Some details:

* When - starting now, finishing on the 17th of May (approximately one month from now). We'll then take a few weeks for voting.
* Who - anyone
* What (requirements of submissions) - at the end of the day, this will have to be in a form usable to us. That form will be an Illustrator file with vectors; however, I'm happy to facilitate achieving that for anyone with some design artwork and a good idea if they don't have access/skill in graphic design. Send us the artwork, and if it makes it through, we'll talk.
* How - you email your entry to me (adam@mountaindesigns.com), and then we'll vote. At this stage the voting will be a mixture of public voting (online), BPL team votes, and a few wildcard votes (given to BPL stalwarts/legends) - this may seem a lot of voting, but its designed to include everyone, although the majority of votes will be given to the current BPL teams. I'm keeping it open at this stage, as I'm not sure how many submissions we'll get; when we get to the pointy end of the competition I'll clarify to all. All entries will be exhibited to the public at some stage.

Prizes - prizes are many! Prizes include free BPL fees for a future season, a unique and memorable carton of beer, a disc/jersey/whatever we put the logo on first, and either a pair of super awesome Salomon XA Pro trail running shoes (http://www.salomon.com/us/product/xa-pro-3d-ultra-2.html)
or (for the people in the know) a pair of Merrell Barefoot running shoes http://www.merrell.com/US/en/Barefoot

I work with a bunch of designers, and the first thing they would ask me is: where is the design brief? The short answer is there isn't any. A conversation with Captains decided that we're better off seeing what other people think suits BPL, rather than steering a certain way. Instead, read Mike's posts on the BPL blog (http://brisbanepremierleague.blogspot.com.au/), and if you have the time or the inclination, read up on some of the team's blogs, read previous seasons finals and game reports courtesy of JDR and others on the BUB (http://brisbaneultimatedisc.blogspot.com.au/search/label/BPL?updated-max=2010-08-09T09:01:00%2B10:00&max-results=20&start=80&by-date=false), or ask some of the older guys kicking around Brisbane (and settle in for a good hour).

A few pieces of information to help with successful designs...
* Make it awesome, keep in clean - no profanity etc
* It's going to be used on the web, trophies, printed materials, jerseys, discs - keep this in mind with both the colours, size/shape, complexity of the design, and the production cost.
* Stay away from designs that show single current/previous teams designs

Have fun, I look forward to your submissions.
